Melissa Freigang currently serves as Director of Workforce Development at Logistic Specialties, Inc., leading a new Economic Expansion Program for the Department of Workforce Services (DWS). She gained her expertise and passion for economic development, government relations, and business development while serving 8 years placing graduates in the workforce in her role as Director of Admissions, Business and Community at Clearfield Job Corps.
Prior to shifting her focus into workforce development, Melissa began her career in higher education at Gonzaga University as Academic Coordinator/NCAA Compliance Officer and was promoted to Senior Woman Administrator before moving to Weber State University as Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator overseeing Title IX compliance, NCAA compliance, administering sports, game management and student athlete welfare programs.
She received her Masters of Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in 1998 and holds her Bachelor of Science in Human Development from the University of Utah as well as several post graduate certifications in the areas of workforce development, community development and leadership.
She currently serves on the United Way of Salt Lake’s Leadership Council, Davis Chamber Women in Business Executive Committee, Davis Chamber BEST Committee, as well serving on the Champions Committee of Prevent Child Abuse Utah. On a personal note, Melissa’s back ground as a Senior US National Team member and All-American University of Utah gymnast, member of two National Championship teams still connects to her sport through volunteer efforts; devoting time and energy as a mentor to current University of Utah gymnasts.
